Jacob De Jesus

Jacob Allen De Jesus, 32, of Paauilo died June 7, 2017. He was born Feb. 1, 1985, in Hilo.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. June 17 at Waipio Valley, followed by a 5 p.m. celebration of life at 43-974 Paauilo Hui Road. Info: Aaron Hilua, 352-5339.

He is survived by his companion, Alisha; mother, Marcella; father, Shannon; hanai mother, Nadine; grandmother, Betty; sons, Ezekiel and Blaze; daughter, Dezirae; brothers, Aaron, Wennson, Tilton and Austin; sisters, Alexis and Erin, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mark Hannum

Mark Scott Hannum, 69, of Waipio Valley died June 5, 2017. He was born Sept. 22, 1948, in San Mateo, Calif.

A celebration of life will be held June 17 at Waipio Valley Beach. A service is planned at 10 a.m., with scattering of cremains at 11. A luncheon will follow. Condolences may be posted at www.ballardfamilymortuaries.com.

He is survived by daughters, Maile (Guy) Andrade and Naoma Wolfe; six grandchildren.

Hajime Okamoto

Hajime Okamoto, 91, of Hilo died June 13, 2017, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired superintendent with Brewer Chemical Corporation.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. June 21 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 5 p.m. service. The family requests casual attire and that flowers be omitted.

He is survived by daughters, Gale Wallace of Hilo, Jamie (Gordon) Nekoba of Kurtistown; sisters, Yukimi Nham, Emiko Goya, both of Hilo; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Debra Ahin

Debra Kauilani Ahin, 60, of Pahoa died April 21, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Dec. 25, 1956, she was a homemaker.

Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. June 24 at Puna Baptist Church with an 11 a.m. service.

She is survived by mother, Catherine Matsuda of Hilo; daughters, Kepola (Johnny) Lujan of Washington and Marcela Ahin of Hilo; son,Isaiah Ahin of Hilo; brothers, Arnold (Ernella) Matsuda of Hilo, Matthew Matsuda of Honolulu and Rick Matsuda of Hilo; sister, Colleen Matsuda of Hilo.

Michael Beatty

Michael Beatty, 75, of Kailua-Kona died May 26, 2017, in Hawaii. Born Aug. 14, 1941, in Ft. Wayne, Ind., he owned Tahuna Productions and later worked as a youth pastor at Mokuaikaua Church in Kailua-Kona.

Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. June 24 at Mokuaikaua Church. A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. with private burial to follow. Condolences may be posted at www.ballardfamilymortuaries.com.

He is survived by spouse, Ululani; son, Teva (Melissa) Beatty of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Keakahaumalio (Michael) Perry of Kailua-Kona; Hokuaonani Lai (Justin Freitas) of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Sherry Glass of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; Deborah Beatty of Maui; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joel Williams

Joel Rex Williams, 60, of Kealakekua died May 22, 2017, at the Kona Community Hospital. Born Feb. 9, 1957, in Norwalk, Calif., he was a registered nurse with Kona Ambulatory Surgery Center.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Williams of Kealakekua; hanai sons, P.B. Williams and Iggy Williams of Kealakekua; sister, Susan Kay of Palm Springs, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews.

Rupert Uratani

Rupert Hiromu Uratani, 72, of Hakalau died June 3, 2017, at home. Born in Hawaii, he was a retired Master Sergeant with the U.S. Army.

He is survived by wife, Myo Cha Uratani of Hilo; daughters, Leatrice Kitamura of Hilo, Jennifer (Dwayne) Hamasaki of Seattle; brother, Ronald (Sharon) Uratani of Pepeekeo; sisters, Margaret Fournier of Anchorage, Alaska, Helen Uratani, Ella Uratani, both of Hakalau; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Linda Lesley

Linda Diane Lesley, 60, of Kailua-Kona died June 3, 2017, at her residence. Born May 24, 1957, in Escondido, Calif., she was a project engineer for GM Construction, Inc.

She is survived by daughter, Elan (Michael) Kirk of Shoreline, Wash.; brother, Edward Lesley of North Carolina; companion, Bill Rosehill of Kailua-Kona.
